American Citizen Services

The American Citizen Services (ACS) Unit of the Consular Section provides information and assistance to U.S. citizens in Algeria.  The unit can help with passport services, registration of U.S. citizens residing in or visiting Algeria, reports of births abroad, voter registration, notarial services, and federal benefits.

The ACS Unit distributes Warden Messages to registered U.S. citizens resident in and visiting Algeria.  Warden Messages address important security concerns as well as civic issues such as voting. Click here to view the most recent Warden Messages.

The ACS Unit also provides emergency services to U.S. citizens in distress.  In an emergency, the Embassy Duty Officer can be reached at any time.

No services are rendered on weekends or
holidays.

In addition to a passport, all consular clients must bring a separate identification document such as a national ID card or a driver's license in order to gain access to the Consular Section.
