Visas to the United States

Welcome to U.S. Embassy Algiers Consular Section.  We are pleased to have the opportunity to facilitate your travel to the United States. 

A foreign citizen wishing to enter the United States usually needs to obtain a visa before traveling, either a non-immigrant visa for a temporary stay, or an immigrant visa for permanent residence.

Plan your travel and visa application as far in advance as possible. Although most visas can be issued within 3 days, some applicants may require Additional Processing that can take from 10 days to two months. In most cases, the Consular Section will not be able to determine whether or not the applicant will require this additional processing until the application is received and entered into the system.

The category of visa is based on immigration law and relates to the purpose of travel.
